Stop It With Your Face

So I’m a fairly good skier by now. I’ve been out over a dozen time this year. I fly down the blacks at our little local resort, jumping the moguls and cutting ice like butter. They caught me last night. After a great night without even a hint of a fall on the slope back to the lodge I hit hard.
See, from the plateau where the lifts let off there are two routes down to the lodge. An easy blue that they convert to the advanced terrain park with multiple large hills and another easy blue that goes down a darker area through a row of trees. I was taking the blue through the trees which would normally be a piece of cake. It was getting dark and that area is poorly lit even after the lights heat up. Un-beknownst to me there was some sort of mogul competition there earlier that day. I was balls to the wall down that hill until hitting the first large mogul. That was some big air but it was landed. I tried to hit the brakes before hitting the second but the landing of that one was on the face of the next.
Skis ripped off, feet flew back, face hits ice. It sucked more than that which has sucked before. I took pictures:

The pictures really don’t convey the swelling. Luckily, nothing broke but my pride and my beautiful complexion. Oh, and I don’t think I’m shaving today.
